Since the launch of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a diverse cast of heroes, and a gripping narrative featuring divine entities, fiends, and sinister influences expanding in strength within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Revealing details for the latest installment of the new season follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
The third episode finished on a huge suspense moment and introduced the first table of adventurers who will separate from the main group to begin their separate journey, apart from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table features Teor (played by Travis), Thimble (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
With a large ensemble, it was clear from the outset that keeping everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
This explains, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, weaving together the characters’ stories before branching into three separate parties: Warriors, Schemers, and Questers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
Per the DM, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who prefer a classically intense combat and conflict-driven narrative style where diplomatic options are rare.
At first glance, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might look mismatched, but the events of episode 3 demonstrate why these specific adventurers are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the team has a clear idea where to head next after a brutal opening clash with the antagonists.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose passing started the narrative’s action—manipulated the enemy for his personal gain, entering the secret base, attacking the rogue, and stealing all the enchanted items to sell off.
Casimir then cleared his debts and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd close behind.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each character has a individual motive to leave the city the urban setting:
- Thimble, as the close ally and closest confidant, desires vengeance.
- Kattigan is familiar with the region and cautions that it is a dangerous location.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having defied his relatives’ demands to kill the fighter and instead freed him, have no other options.
- However, their reputation as prominent individuals in the powerful family could enable the party reach areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, The grateful character pledged a eternal obligation to Wicander for his deliverance and will now follow him wherever.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are wanted by the authorities that rule the city for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind dangerous:
- Thimble and The character are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and Wicander turned against House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- The target is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This results in them little choice but to head to the northern region in pursuit of Casimir.
Upcoming Developments
From the recent installment’s Cooldown, we discover that the warrior group will be absent next week, leaving the other eight players to form the Seekers and Planners parties.
Fans can anticipate learning which players will be in which group in the season’s concluding setup installment, released on October 24.
